ARTS 1316 Drawing I

A foundation studio course exploring drawing with emphasis on descriptive, expressive and conceptual approaches. Students will learn to see and interpret a variety of subjects while using diverse materials and techniques. Course work will facilitate a dialogue in which students will engage in critical analysis and begin to develop their understanding of drawing as a discipline.  Required for the Studio Art degree and prerequisite for other courses.

A studio art course that introduces the materials, processes, and issues pertaining to the making of three-dimensional objects. The course explores the use of varied materials and techniques along with the formal and conceptual principles that form the basis of contemporary sculpture.  Prerequisite ARTS 1312 Design II.

A studio art course that introduces basic building, throwing, and construction techniques as it relates to the design and production of ceramic sculpture and pottery.  Prerequisite:  ARTS 1312 (Design II--3D Design) or departmental approval.   This course is temporarily reserved for students seeking first time credit for Ceramics I.  As of November 22, the course is open to all students with departmental permission.

A continuation of Ceramics I studio art course that introduces basic building, throwing, and continuation of ARTS 2346 with emphasis on clay bodies, glazes, firing, and using the wheel.  Prerequisite:  ARTS 1312 (Design II--3D Design).  This course is temporarily reserved for students seeking first time credit for Ceramics II.  As of November 22, the course is open to all students with departmental permission.

ARTS 2348 Digital Media

Studio art course that introduces the potential of basic digital media manipulation and graphic creation. The course emphasizes still and time-based media. This course may be substituted for Design I (ARTS 1311) for the Associate's degree in Art.  

In the fun, fast-paced Digital Media Class ARTS 2348 students will be creating digital artworks using many of the popular graphic programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Procreate for iPad and SketchUp.

ARTS 2389 Academic Cooperative

An instructional program designed to integrate on-campus study with practical hands-on work experience. In conjugation with class seminars, the individual students will set specific goals and objectives in the study of studio art and/or art history.   Prerequisites for Studio Arts path: ARTS 1311, 1312, 1316, ARTS 1304 or 1303, and another ARTS elective (or departmental approval).   Prerequisites for Art History path: ARTS 1301 OR ARTS 1316, ARTS 1303, ARTS 1304, ARTS 1311 (or departmental approval).  Students must be declared Art majors pursuing either the Studio Art path or Art History path.  Students should have successfully completed 30+ SCH toward the degree (or departmental approval).
